What is in my wallet?

Yesterday, I wrote about the American Express Platinum card that I recently added to my wallet. This post will give you a brief overview of the six cards that I currently have in said wallet.

American Express Platinum (See this post for the benefits).

Citi Prestige ($450 annual fee)

  • 75,000 Citi ThankYou points points after spending $7,500 in first three months of account opening
  • $250 Air Travel Credit
  • Complimentary 4th Night at a hotel
  • Priority Pass Lounge Access
  • Global Entry Fee credit
  • Citi Concierge to assist 24/7

Chase Sapphire Preferred ($0 annual fee the first year and $95 after that)

  • 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in first three months of account opening (equals two CONUS roundtrip tickets at the Saver level when transferred to United Airlines)

United MileagePlus Explorer ($95 annual fee)

  • 40,000 United miles after spending $2,000 in first three months of account opening
  • Two complimentary lounge passes
  • Priority boarding
  • Free checked bag

Marriott Rewards ($85 annual fee)

  • 80,000 Marriott Rewards points after spending $3,000 in first three months of account opening
  • Annual free night certificate (can be used at category 1 – 5 property…covers the $85 annual fee)

IHG Rewards Club ($0 annual fee the first year and $49 after that)

  • 80,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $3,000 in first three months of account opening
  • Annual free night certificate (can be used at any property…covers the $49 annual fee)
  • Platinum elite status (complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, etc)

Chase Freedom Unlimited Card (no annual fee…ever)

  • $200 bonus after spending $500 in the first three months after opening
  • Earn Unlimited 1.5% cash back.  This is a great benefit that, when combined with the Chase Sapphire Card, returns more Chase Ultimate Rewards Points.
  • 0% APR for the first 15 months
  • Cash Back Rewards do not expire

Final Word

Naturally, I did not list every benefit for each card, just the ones that appeal to me.  Each card offered brought different levels of value to me.  The thing that I value most is getting hotels or flights for ‘free’.  Citi, American Express, and Chase allow customers to transfer points from their respective marketplaces to the airlines or hotels of your choosing.
