Greetings from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex!  I am typing my first trip report while riding in a Lyft to watch the Texas Rangers play the Houston Astros. The intent of this trip was to do something fun with my son because our town is lacking in that fun department.

I wanted to do something different in the city so we visited the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.  The museum was a really cool place.  There were exhibits for the young and the old.

I usually stay at the Marriott DFW-South which goes for ~96/night (government rate). As I was checking my other hotel options, I soon realized that I had my free night from the IHG Rewards credit card, so I looked into those options. I found the Crowne Plaza Dallas for ~140. I ended up using my free night certificate from the credit card, which saved me a few bucks, minus the valet fee ($30).

Our final stop was Mr. Max Izakaya in Irving.  It was the most authentic Japanese Izakaya that I have been to in the United States.  The food was good, but the service was even better.

Final Word

It is always great to get down to Dallas and check out the city.  I love Dallas and would not be opposed to retiring here. Please follow along this week as I share my experience.
