Earlier today, I received an email from Uber alerting me to the service that would finally be expanding to North Texas. It read:
Moving Wichita Falls forward
It’s official: Uber is now available in Wichita Falls! Starting now, Texans in Wichita Falls can request a safe, reliable ride in minutes with just the tap of a button in the Uber app.
Along with the lawmakers in the Texas Capitol who helped implement the statewide ridesharing regulations that paved the way for this launch, we’d like to thank Senator Craig Estes for his hard work to help get Uber up and running in Wichita Falls.
We look forward to working with local officials and the Wichita Falls community to increase access to flexible earnings opportunities and safe, reliable transportation options throughout the region. In the coming months, Uber will expand to even more cities across Texas.
We hope to see you on the road soon!
For most people…most markets, this would not be a big deal. However, bringing Uber to Wichita Falls, TX gives its citizens (which includes military members, college students, etc) more options. I am excited that the city is moving from its OLD past, no matter the pace. One last thing, the AMEX Platinum card offers $200 in Uber benefits per year. Well done Uber, and please, pretty please Wichita Falls do not ruin this.
