I had to be in Dallas early this morning for an important appointment, which meant that I left my house before sunrise to make it to the city (long intro to say I did not leave myself time for breakfast). After the appointment, I made the 15 minute drive north to check out one (Plano) of the two (Carrollton) locations for Kula Revolving Sushi Bar in the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex.
The Kula brand has a total of 14 restaurants in three states…California, Texas, and Georgia.
Having lived in Japan for four years, I knew about the revolving sushi, aka “sushi go ’round”, concept. I expected minimum interaction with the staff. The food will pass beside the table, what else is there to talk about? The place opens daily at 1100. I arrived shortly thereafter.
The first thing that I noticed upon entering the restaurant was its size. Not typical Japanese size like Mr. Max, but American sized like a Texas Roadhouse. There was not a wait, so I was seated quickly. However, minutes later, the lunch crowd rolled in.
I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Final Word
My experience at Kula Revolving Sushi Bar was simply ok. I would eat here again. How can you pass on $2.25/per plate for sushi? You can’t. Lastly, when you finish eating at Kula, go check out Mitsuwa next door.
