Altus Air Show

Yesterday, I made the short drive north to Altus Air Force Base for the 2017 Power Over Altus.  The weather was ideal for being on a flight line all day.  There were two parking locations, one for the general public and the other for military ID cardholders.  The United States Air Force’s Thunderbirds were the highlight of the day.

Airplanes

There were quite a few airplanes on static display.  All of the larger aircraft were mostly used for shade.

Food

The food options were limited.  Hotdogs, hamburgers, and pretzels were offered.  The drink options were water (from a community fountain), lemonade, and beer.  The beer was from two trucks, Coors Light and Budweiser.  Each truck had two taps, only three were stocked throughout the show.  The Coors Light truck ran out of Blue Moon at approximately 1pm.  Beer was really cheap ($3), while hamburgers went for $8.  The lines were food and drinks were ridiculous, 30 minutes to get a beer or some food is unacceptable.

Final Word

Overall, the airshow was great.  As someone that loves all types of aircraft, the show provided the opportunity to check out various aircraft.  The only issue that I had was with the food/drink selections.  Not only were the options limited, but the lines were insane.  All things considered, I would not hesitate to attend another airshow at Altus.
