After experiencing one of the biggest data breaches in recent history, Equifax is back in the news. Inexplicably, the company was awarded a $7.25 million contract from the Internal Revenue Service.
According to the release, The credit agency will “verify taxpayer identity” and “assist in ongoing identity verification and validations”. Um, they lost 143 million identities already, do we need to ‘verify’ that they will lose more??? They lost their boss as well.
This is really bad for the government, Equifax is the only company to apply and be, subsequently, awarded the contract.
