Yesterday while I was researching travel waivers for the winter storm that is affecting the east coast, I came across an intriguing marketing campaign. The Colonnade Hotel in Boston is running a promotion called ‘Frosty Fridays’.
Here is an explanation of Frosty Fridays: You book the two night Frosty Fridays weekend package and pay only the outside temperature on Friday night, based on the 5:00 p.m. reading by the National Weather Service, for your room. The next night is at the $289 rate. Looking at the temperature in Boston for Friday, January 5th, the high is not supposed to reach 20 degrees. That would mean a two night stay would approximately ~$155/night average. The regular rate is ~$189.
Frosty Fridays also comes with the following:
- Choice of 4 tickets to either the Old Town Trolley Tour OR admission and skating rentals at The Boston Common Frog Pond Skating Rink
- “Make your own” hot chocolate bar, which includes marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, candy canes, caramel, etc.
- Overnight parking
- Late check-out (2 pm)
The promotion is valid from December 1, 2017 through April 8, 2018.
This is a nice way to save a few bucks if you were planning to visit the city. Sure there are cheaper properties in Boston, but how can you beat the make your own hot chocolate bar?
