Pura Vida: I’m Going to Costa Rica!

2018 has been a very difficult year for me for various reasons. What does not kill us make us stronger, right? I firmly believe that traveling keeps me grounded (no pun intended). The entire travel experience is fascinating to me, but as I have said before, I enjoy the journey more than the destination. I am currently finishing the trip report from Asia and it gave me inspiration for my next trip. I wanted to visit a country that is relatively close to the United States. The only place that came to mind was Costa Rica.

I have been to Costa Rica before and I enjoyed everything about the country. Tickets to Costa Rica are not particularly cheap. I ended up paying $909 for one way in Economy Plus and the other in Business Class. I will earn 8800 redeemable United MileagePlus miles because I used the United Airlines MileagePlus Explorer Card. If I had of used my American Express Platinum card, I would have earned 3,000 more AMEX Membership Rewards Points. My justification is that I have a specific flight redemption in mind on United that I want for later in the year.

The airplanes that I will be traveling to/from Costa Rica are nothing special. I will be on the ERJ-175 between Oklahoma City and Houston. For the legs between Houston and Costa Rica, I will be on the 737-800.

United Arlines 757-300

Final Word

I have not begun to look at hotels or things to do in Costa Rica. That will wait until the trip gets closer. This trip will give me a chance to recharge before taking on the second half of the year. Thanks for reading.
