NTSB Releases Video That Shows How Close an Air Canada A320 Came to Landing on Taxiing Aircraft

In July 2017, an Air Canada A320 flying from Toronto to San Francisco nearly crashed into four airplanes while attempting to land. There was confusion from the pilots which led them to mistake Taxiway C for Runway 28R. The crash could have potentially claimed the lives of more than 1,000 passengers.

The incident has been under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). While the investigation is ongoing, the NTSB released the following video to show how close the A320 came to crashing on the taxiway. In the top of the video, the airplane can be seen coming within feet of the others.

Luckily, the pilots were able to complete a ‘go around’. San Francisco International Airport stated that they have made several safety improvements. The video is so intense, wow!
