As I prepare for another trip to Costa Rica, I am searching for new things to experience. One part of me wants to go on the trip and totally unplug (no blogging, phone calls, etc). There is the other part that wants to enjoy new experiences while I am still able. I think have compromised with myself on certain aspects of the trip.
I have decided to keep a few things the same as the previous trip. I will fly the entire itinerary on United Airlines. I thought about booking another airline, such as Spirit, but I did not want to fly to Atlanta or Fort Lauderdale and then on to San Jose.

The hotel that I booked, Costa Rica Marriott, is also the same. I enjoyed the friendly staff, views from the room, and design of the property. The welcome gift of wine and cheese was a huge plus as well.

Now, on to the new things that I want to experience on the trip. Priority Pass members have access to two restaurants, Cadillac Mexican Kitchen & Tequila bar and Landry’s Seafood, at Houston International Airport. I have not visited either of two before so a review may be in order (pun intended). It does not hurt that Priority Pass members get a $28 credit at these restaurants.
There will three of us on the trip. Two of us have Global Entry from our American Express Platinum cards, while the third person does not. We have a few hours in Houston so the interview may be accomplished as well.
As far as things to do in Costa Rica, the options are limitless. I really want to check out Hermosa Beach. I heard that it was one of the most picturesque places in the country.
The next place that I want to visit is Irazu Volcano located in the National Park of the same name. The volcano is one of a few active volcanoes in the country. I have never visited an active volcano before so this might be fun.
The last thing I want to experience is parasailing. There are a few parasailing companies on Jaco Beach. I am deathly afraid of heights but I may step out of comfort zone to experience this.
Final Word
Ultimately, it does not matter if I chose to unplug or travel to some different sites in Costa Rica, I am sure to have a good time. Costa Rica is one of the places that makes you relaxed, no matter the activity. Pura vida!
Rob you are picking some awesome spots buddy.
My suggestions:
– visit Manuel Antonio National Park; tiny but incredible wildlife in this diverse park
– visit Nueva Arenal for stunning beauty, and then hop over to the volcano
– Playa Potrero was a sleepy shore town we loved
– Rio Chirripo is dazzling
I have been there twice and def thinking of a return trip. Enjoy!!!
Thanks for the suggestions Ryan.
