A few weeks ago, it was announced that Marriott Bonvoy would be the new rewards program the Ritz, Marriott, and Starwood Preferred Guest brand. With the announcement, Marriott listed a couple of other changes that would be occurring during first quarter 2019. These changes included a new mobile app and a Marriott Bonvoy credit card. There was no additional information provided about the credit card, until now.
The Marriott Bonvoy credit cards will be issued by Chase Bank to replace all Marriott Rewards cards. There is still no concrete date for the rollout of the new credit cards, but Marriott has assured customers that the new Bonvoy cards will be delivered prior to the old branded cards expiration date. This seems like a rather long time. My Marriott Rewards credit card is not set to expire for almost four years.
The new Marriott Bonvoy Premier card will have the same benefits as the card it is replacing, to include the one Free Night Award on the card’s anniversary.
Final Word
I am excited for the new card, not because it is something special, but because my favorite hotel brand is expanding. I cannot wait to start visiting properties under the Marriott Bonvoy brand. As I stated before, the program will need some time to iron out all of the issues.
Expanding like crazy I see. I dig it. Better for us travelers for sure.
