United Airlines Issues Travel Waiver for United States Winter Weather and Brussels Strike

Winter storms continue to impact travel throughout the United States. The Midwest and Northeast were the hardest hit areas of the country over the past few weeks. Not to outdone, the Pacific Northwest has been hampered by a winter storm over the weekend. In addition to the weather in the United States, Brussels Airport is scheduled to be shut down due to a strike on February 13, 2019. United Airlines has issued the following travel waivers:

United Airlines

Pacific Northwest Winter Weather

Airports:

  • Eugene, OR (EUG)​
  • Medford, OR (MFR)​
  • North Bend, OR (OTH)​
  • Pasco, WA (PSC)​
  • Portland, OR (PDX)​
  • Redmond, OR (RDM)​
  • Seattle, WA (SEA)​

Original travel date(s):

February 8, 2019 – February 11, 2019

Flight changes:

The change fee and any difference in fare will be waived for new United flights departing on or before February 14, 2019, as long as travel is rescheduled in the originally ticketed cabin (any fare class) and between the same cities as originally ticketed.​​

Northeast Winter Weather

  • Albany, NY (ALB)
  • Boston, MA (BOS)
  • Hartford, CT (BDL)
  • Manchester, NH (MHT)
  • New York/Newark, NJ (EWR)

Final Word

A delay is one of the most frustrating things that can occur when traveling. Airlines try to assist by preemptively offering travel waivers so customers can adjust their plans. If you can wait a few days before traveling, please do or run the risk of being stuck in the airport.
