I wrote earlier how I was able to get check in and get through security within 10 minutes after arriving at the airport. The concourse was full of people everywhere: lounges, restaurants, benches. It was a madhouse.
This did not bother me until the inbound flight was delayed. Not delayed in the sense that there was a mechanical issue or a late inbound aircraft to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, but because it was held up by Air Traffic Control (ATC) at End Of Runway (EOR).
You can see the hold by the dark area during the taxi, if you watch the playback of AA2878 on FlightRadar24, it shows a continuous movement which was not the case.

There were 50 minutes added to the flight from Dallas. This was compounded by the fact that five police officers had to meet the airplane at the gate because a passenger was not being nice on the 45 minute flight from Dallas.

I did not take a picture but he looked like Ric Flair and he was wheelchair bound. WTH? I wonder what he did on the flight from Dallas. At this point, our departure slipped to 3:40pm.

The gate agent made an announcement a few minutes later stating that we could not board because the air conditioning ground pit was not working. He closed the door then immediately reopened it. At this point, our time slipped to 4:00pm.

We actually pushed from the gate 80 minutes behind schedule. This was not too bad because I had a three hour layover built in the itinerary for my connection.
Final Word
After some drama with the inbound flight from, I was finally able to board the flight to Dallas. We were 80 minutes behind schedule but I was happy to be on the way.
