Review: Marriott Hotel – Orlando Airport/Lakeside

Our flights were supposed to work in such a way that Nicholas and I would arrive a bit more than six hours before my mom and stepdad. This did not happen because of the massive weather delays experienced by American Airlines so we arrived at the same time in Orlando.

I was originally looking at hotels near Port Canaveral so we could be closer the cruise ship, but quickly changed to those near the Orlando airport. I settled on the Marriott Hotel at Orlando Airport.

Booking

I booked two standard double bed rooms, at the government/military rate for approximately $190 per night.

Arrival

I ordered an Uber to get us to the property. As we were waiting, a car service stopped and offered us a ride in a SUV for a similar price. I canceled the Uber and we were on our way. The property was 10 minutes or so from the airport. It was located amongst quite a few properties.

Check-In

The front desk was to the right as we walked in. It had the dedicated Bonvoy Elite line to the right.

Room

Our rooms were located on the 8th floor. As we exited the elevator our rooms and took a right, our rooms were down the hall.

I gave my mom the room closest to the elevator. She ended up having an issue with one of the beds, it reeked of perfume. She called the front desk to alert them of the issue. They apologized and proactively offered 7,000 Bonvoy points for the inconvenience.

We took the other room.

As we walked into the room, it had a fresh, at home feel.

There was a closet to left with an iron board, iron, and some hangars. A pretty standard setup at Marriott properties.

The bathroom was to the right. It was small but bright and well kept.

There was an issue with the water. It just would not get hot. I messaged the front desk and the engineer was there to look at the issue within five minutes. He did his thing and the issue was corrected minutes later.

The main part was the room was sleek. It included the double beds, TV, chaise and table. The “desk” with a chair was under the TV.

Fitness

I did not get a chance to check out the gym because it was a quick overnight stay. I did, however, take a glance at the pool. It was just off the Tavern Bar. There were plenty of chairs and the sun was sunning.

Dining

We went to the Tavern Bar, which was in the lobby, to grab a bite before crashing out.

It was a cool place but I was so tired so I wanted to get food and pass out. I ordered the salmon, Nicholas had the pizza, my stepdad had the cheesesteak.

The food was amazing! Like really really good. Nicholas was the happiest as the pizza was the “bomb”. The salmon was light and flaky. The total dinner was $150 with drinks included.

The next day I ordered room service breakfast. We went with the pancakes with bacon for Nicholas and I had two egg meal with hash browns, ham and toast. It was a standard breakfast, nothing more. The total for it was $77.

Final Word

The Marriott at Orlando International Airport was cool for a 14 stay. I wish we had more time to check out the property. There might be another time in the near future to check it out. 😉
