Inconsiderate Housekeeper at Paris Marriott Rive Gauche

I went back and forth about writing this post as I am still at the property for another night. I feel like it is fair that I share this experience while it is still fresh.

We have been at the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche for five days. Everything has been going well mostly but there are a few things that stuck out. There was an issue with check-in where I could not get the room I booked so I had to pay for a room “upgrade” to get a room to accommodate three people.

I had to get the room but another recurring issue has been housekeeping. The housekeepers knock and immediately enter the room. They do not give the guests a chance to respond or make themselves decent before barging in. This occurred on consecutive days.

I put the Privacy Please tag on the door yesterday but that did not deter them as they still came in the room…without knocking.  Fast forward to this morning. The privacy tag was on the door but I again heard the door opening without a knock. So I said l, very loudly, “excuse me”. Without a word, the door was closed and the person was gone.

I reached out to the front desk through Bonvoy app and received the following:

To Nolan’s credit, he did investigate and elevate to his manager. I received a call from Adir offering an apology and explanation for the situation. Apparently, a housekeeper saw the tag on the door but disregarded it. Two days in a row?

She then offered to discuss the issue with me in person. I appreciated the gesture but declined.

Some hours passed and we prepared to leave the room to grab food. The following handwritten note and drink ticket were tucked under the door.

Final Word

While I appreciate the apology and gestures, I found it alarming that a staff member would enter a guest’s room when the privacy tag is displayed.

Is training the issue or is there something more sinister at play?

I do not know the answer to either one of those, I would ask Marriott to correct it immediately.
