Review: American Airlines CRJ700 First Class – Wichita Falls to Dallas

The last three months after our Paris trip has been relatively quiet, minus the last one. My nephew graduated from high school in Houston then the following week I drove to Nebraska for my buddy’s Air Force retirement.

Ironically, this flight was delayed six hours on the Nebraska Thursday so it made sense to drive. The previous trips were with my son who is always down for a trip. On this trip, however, I am solo. I was able to receive a refund for Nicholas and my ticket from American Airline due to the extended delay…even though it was a non-refundable ticket.

I used the refund to book the four segment roundtrip for 86,877 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points or ~$1,090 USD.

The small boarding area was packed.

Boarding began right on time at 0530. It began with Concierge Key then First Class and those traveling with infants. The plane was packed so the agents made everyone with a carry on gate check their bags. My garment bag, that I was advised to had carry at check in, was allowed aboard.

The flight attendant allowed me to store it in the forward closet.

My seat was the line first class seat on the right. First class was configured in three rows of 1-2. The bulkhead seats always have more room so I choose them when I can.

The seat was no frills but I appreciated the comfort this early in the morning. The drink holder was to the left and I had two air nozzles.

A few minutes after settling in, I was offered a drink. I went with a vodka cranberry.

The welcome aboard announcement was made 18 minutes after boarding and the door was closed immediately. The captain informed us of our 23 minute flight to DFW. We were offered snacks a minute later. I did not take anything but it was a robust basket.

The safety demonstration was done a few minutes later and then we began our taxi. After an eight minute, we were on the go to Dallas. (The window was way nasty.)

We made it to 10,000ft so I hopped on the WiFi to check the incoming aircraft that would take me to Dayton. Two things: 1) it was delayed and 2) why is American Airlines flying CRJ700 on 20min and 2hr flights?!

We began our descent into DFW 14 minutes after we started. The landing was bumpy but we made it. A three minute taxi and we were at the gate with nearly 20 minutes to spare. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏿

Final Word

The flight to Dallas was uneventful. I am ecstatic that it was not delayed out of Wichita Falls. Here’s to a great weekend with the bros…I need that plane from Lawton gets here.
