My Experience at IAH During the First Day of Airspace Closure

Yesterday I posted how my itinerary was changed due to flight cancellations due to the airspace closures. I was worried about transiting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at Bush International Airport in Houston. Luckily, the airport has a website where passengers can check TSA wait times.

With four hours to my flight, the wait was showing to be 10 minutes at Terminals A and E while the Terminal C and D checkpoints were closed.

I checked my bag within three minutes of entering the airport through the American Airlines Priority line. The agent informed me that she had not heard of any extended waits but I would see for myself when I went through TSA checkpoint to the left of the counter.

Lo and behold, she was right. The line had a handful of people which made me happy.

I was through security in two minutes. This meant I was able to check my bag and transit the TSA checkpoint in less than 10 minutes.

The airport is packed with customers. EVERY restaurant and lounge are full. Maybe this is apart of the plan…get everyone to come to the airports early to spend money.

Final Word

The airspace closures affected my connecting flight from Dallas but TSA was better than usual. As of now, my flight is on time…hope it stays that was.
