Phillips Loop Year in Review

In this post, I will provide a recap of my travel during 2017.  There were two trips to Japan (which were completed before this blog was born), numerous domestics trips in the United States, tons of restaurants visited, and plenty of hotel stays.  I will provide you with some of the highlights.

United Premier Platinum Status

I traveled over 75,000 miles and spent more than $9,000 on the airline to achieve this status.

Some of the trips that helped me reached this status are below:

  1. Mileage Run to Singapore
  2. A Run to Denver
  3. Quick Trip to Boston

Hotels Status

Marriott was my hotel of choice during the year, I stayed at various properties during the year.  I was given complimentary Marriott Gold status after I achieved United Premier Gold status. I totaled 47 nights.

Some of my favorite stays are below:

  1. The Adolphus
  2. DFW Marriott
  3. Courtyard Marriott Cambridge

Food

Besides flying, food is probably the best part of any travel experience.  A lot of my meals are centered around Asian cuisine. Here are some of the highlights:

  1. Mr. Max Izakaya – Irving
  2. Pig & Sprout
  3. Mudhen
  4. Sura Korean Bistro

Ride Sharing

Uber was my preferred choice when it came to getting around a city.  I travelled over 240 miles with the company.  A lot of it was done with the credits that I received from the American Express Platinum card.

I also used Lyft, but it was so infrequent that they made me this offer.

Final Word

This year was amazing!  It was a rollercoaster but there were more ups than downs. 2018 will be a much better year because I plan to travel more internationally, beginning with a huge trip in March. Please continue to follow along as I explore the world.
