Review: Residence Inn Austin Round Rock

I had to be in Round Rock because my nephew was running in the Texas High School Cross Country meet. While looking for hotels, I came across the Residence Inn Austin Round Rock. This hotel is located 5 miles from the course at Old Settlers Park.

Booking

I was looking to book this hotel on points. The point total for one night came to 20,000 Marriott Rewards points. Had I chosen to pay cash, this property would have set me back $600!

Arrival

The hotel does not have a dedicated entrance from the Interstate 35 Frontage Road.  You have two choices to enter the property 1) drive through Macaroni Grill’s parking lot or 2) enter the rear of the hotel from Dell Drive.

Check-In

I did a mobile check in on the app because I did not want to get ‘walked’ from the property.  The front desk is located straight ahead as you walk in.  The front desk agent, Adrian (sp?), welcomed me as I entered the property.

There was also some seating in the lobby…

and a business center…with water.

Room

The hotel has three stories.  My room was located on the 2nd floor.  I exited the elevator (lazy, I know) and turned right.  The room was down the hall, on the right.

Dining

The hotel offered complimentary breakfast for all guests daily.  The food was, uh…unappealing.

There was also ‘The Market’ if you wanted snacks.

Fitness

The exercise room is located the back left as you walk into the hotel.  The room is accessible by key, but the door frame is broken.

There was also a basketball court…

…and swimming pool.

I did not see people using either one.

Final Word

The room was normal for a Residence Inn, but the bed felt extremely comfortable.  To this point, I woke up before my alarm clock.  The issues, if you want to call them that, were the broken exercise room door and the lack of cleanliness in the breakfast area was not appealing.
