Before I left the house to come Dallas, I knew that I would not feel like driving back so I starting searching hotel options in Addison. The Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum by the Galleria ($123 or 20,000 Marriott Rewards pts/night), Crowne Plaza Galleria ($112 or 20,000 IHG rewards pts/nights), and the Courtyard Dallas/Addison ($85 or 10,000 Marriott Rewards pts/night). I ultimately chose the latter (ultimately, this was a mistake). Since I am a Gold Elite with Marriott, I inquired about a complimentary upgrade to one of the two available suites (I do not recall every being upgraded at a Marriott property in Dallas). Here is the conversation:
Arrival
The hotel sits on Quorum Road in Addison. Parking at the hotel is complimentary and there seemed to be more than enough spaces. From my count, there are no less 30 eateries/bars within a half of mile of the hotel. This town is really impressive, unless you try to get gas.
Check-in
Upon entering the hotel, the check-in desk is located on the immediate right after passing ‘The Market’.
To the left was the ‘The Bistro’.
Straight ahead was the business center/relax area.
There was not a wait to check in. I inquired about the upgrade again. The clerk smiled and said, ‘didn’t you get the chat message?’. I literally laughed her to keep from saying something that I would have regretted. Breakfast is never offered at Courtyard properties nor are welcome amenities. My room was on the 7th floor. To get to the elevators, I had to take a left at the business center, a right at the end of the hall, walk another 50-60 feet, then turn right into the elevator area.
Room
The room was a King room w/sofa bed. Well…I do not know what was ‘King’ about this room as it had to be the smallest King room that I have ever been in. Have a look:

Fitness Center
The Fitness Center was decent:
Dining
The aforementioned Bistro is the only place to eat in the hotel. With all of the other options near the property, I would have a hard time eating anything from there. I was sitting about 20 feet away from the bar and I heard all of the words from the videos that he was watching from his phone. He found it so funny, that he called one of the front desk clerks over to watch. I could have sworn that someone said, ‘do it for the Vine’…wait, what?
Final Word
I blame myself for taking the cheap way out by booking this hotel for 10,000 Marriott Rewards points, but there are certain things that I expect from a Marriott or any other hotel chain…professionalism and attentiveness for starters. I do not know if I will ever visit this property again. Am I becoming too picky with hotels or is the customer service decline universal? I know that if I ever another old thermostat like the one in my room, i will install a new one myself.
Pics of the new thermostat….or it didn’t happen.

The “king sized” chair made it a king room. Lol
