A few days ago, I wrote that I had to cancel my Eurotrip for personal reasons. Since that day, I have been searching for other international travel destinations. While playing around on Google Flights, I came across a roundtrip business class fare from Boston to Beijing for $2,364! Business class fares usually doubled that price. I quickly booked the ticket through United Airlines using my American Express Platinum card. I will earn 11,820 American Express Membership Rewards points and 20,421 redeemable miles from United Airlines. This roundtrip flight will also net me 32,622 Premier Qualifying Miles which will ensure that I have at least United Premier Silver status for next year.
On the outbound, I will have the opportunity to fly United’s 777-200. While it is the older business class, it is not a bad way to fly 14 hours to China.
On the return, I am flying United’s newest business class product aboard the 777-300. These seats offer a lot of privacy. I am happy that there was a ‘true’ window available at booking. By true window seat, I mean my seat will be right next to the window. The other ‘window’ seats have a tray table between them and the window which, in my opinion, is less desirable. The business class seats alternate this configuration throughout the cabin.

I will also get to fly United’s 757-200 with lie flat seats on a transcontinental flight San Francisco. I tried the 757-300 before, but it was with reclined seats and the flight was under two hours.

In my typical travel fashion, this trip will only cover a few days. I am excited to visit China for the first time. Please follow along in the coming weeks as I document my travels.
