Three weeks ago, I wrote about the temporary closure of the American Express Centurion Lounge at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The lounge was supposedly going through some minor repairs that would have it closed for three weeks. It appears as though the repairs were not as minor as initially thought. Here is the current message posted on the lounge’s website:

The Centurion Lounge at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is currently closed. Due to additional maintenance needed, we will not be reopening this space. However, we look forward to welcoming Card Members into our new expanded location across from Gate D12 starting early October. We apologize for any inconvenience.

This is terrible news for anyone that frequents this lounge. It was definitely on the small side, but that beats not having the lounge at all. With the DFW American Express Centurion Lounge closed, there are a few options available. I could use the Minutes Suites but it does not offer much. The Admirals Club, Delta Sky Club, and United Club all offer complimentary access for military members, if I were flying the airline. Additionally, American Express Platinum cardholders get access to the Delta Sky Club when flying the airline. Lastly, I have Star Alliance Gold status which would give me complimentary access to the United Club, if I were flying on an international United Airlines (not possible) or partner flight from DFW.  I know, I know, there are a lot of hypotheticals in this paragraph.

Final Word

While I do not like the news of this lounge being closed, I look forward to the new opening in October. Until that time, I will have to figure out creative ways to visit other lounges (for the reviews, of course) or waste a bit of time in the terminal prior to my flight. I hope that the complimentary manicure station returns and showers are added to the new lounge.
