The next airline’s military benefits I will cover is Frontier Airlines. Frontier is a low cost carrier based out of Denver, Colorado. The airline, like Spirit and Southwest, offers deeply discounted fares. I have never flown Frontier, but it has intrigued me for some time. As a refresher, below is a list of the airlines covered in other posts:
United Airlines
American Airlines
Delta Airlines
Spirit Airlines
Southwest Airlines
Frontier Airlines offers the following military benefits:
Complimentary Baggage. The airline offers one free carry on, one free oversized or overweight checked bag, and an already free personal item to all active duty military passengers. The free carry on and checked bag will save the service member at least $65 USD. This cannot be done online. Customers must check their baggage at the airport in order for the fees to be waived.
Special Tickets. Active duty military personnel are offered discounted tickets. The service members need to contact Frontier Airlines at 1-800-432-1359 to book these discounted tickets.
Final Word
Much like Southwest and Spirit, I did not expect Frontier’s military to be extensive. The airline’s fares are already cheap but I think it is great that they offer an additional discount for military members. The waived carry on and checked baggage fees save the members at least $65. Lastly, military members will need to show their military identification to use the benefits.
Free baggage? Awesome dude. Saves you some decent dough as you fly Frontier more often.
