Our final stop in Dallas on this weekend stay was at Gen Korean Barbecue in Carrollton. I try not to review chain restaurants unless something stands out to me, whether it is really good or really bad. The exception to this seems to be Korean barbecue restaurants, which I have reviewed before. Gen Korean Barbecue has well over 25 restaurants from Hawaii to Texas.
This particular Gen was located in a strip mall about 20 minutes north of the Marriott Suites. The strip mall included many Asian stores, including one Daiso store.
The hostess stand was located to the right after I entered the restaurant. With it being just after opening on a Sunday, there restaurant was fairly empty. The hostess led us to the right side of the restaurant, the only section that they were using, to be seated. I liked the like the huge booths and the lighting throughout the place.
At the table was an assortment of Korean pickles, which was a bit different. We were provided menus and told about the all you can eat barbecue. The price was $26 per adult. My son’s portion was free because he was two years old.
I ordered an assortment of meats, to include bulgogi, whole shrimp, spicy chicken, and salted pork. My son also had the chicken nuggets (not pictured). He was eating the nuggets before the plate made it to the table. For the drink, I ordered an Orion beer, which I am partial to from my time in Okinawa.
The staff checked on us regularly and even changed grill without prompting. All of the food was great. I ate so much that I almost feel asleep a few times driving home.
Gen Korean Barbecue was a cool restaurant. I really liked the interior of the restaurant but most importantly, the food was delicious. The staff was attentive and provided everything that we needed. I will be visiting this place again.
